Turn back the clock with Botox®
Sometimes we look in the mirror and wonder where the time has gone. Those annoying lines and wrinkles seem to creep up on us, and no matter how much we spend on creams, lotions and serums, they simply won’t budge. From her clinics based in South Woodford, Harley Street and Bishops Stortford, Dr. Anita Dhunna uses her many years as a cosmetic facial aesthetician to administer anti-wrinkle injections (Botox®) for the temporary smoothing of expression and dynamic lines, such as forehead lines, Glabellar lines, crow’s feet and bunny lines, giving your face a new lease of life and turning back the clock on ageing.
Botox® has been used in medicine years to treat conditions such as muscle spasms and bladder issues. Whilst using it for facial spasms in the mid 1980s, it was discovered that it is excellent anti-ageing treatment by Dr. Scott, who injected the substance in to areas of the face and noticed that her patients began to look younger, for months at a time! Following this discovery, Botox® was clinically- approved for the purpose of wrinkle reduction and has been regularly administered for expression and dynamic line smoothing since the early 1990s.
What is Botox®?
Botox is a brand name for a substance called Botulinum Toxin Type A, one of the most potent neurotoxins on the planet. However, when injected in small doses in to the facial muscles, Botox® works by temporarily blocking the nerve signals to these muscles, helping to smooth out lines and wrinkles that are created when we form an expression. But don’t worry, when expertly administered by a highly-qualified medical practitioner such as Dr. Anita Dhunna, Botox® simply reduces these lines and you will still be able to make facial expressions and will not look ‘over-done’. As a medical practitioner with years of experience in facial anatomy, Dr. Anita Dhunna has perfected her technique, so that a natural appearance is always achieved, for both men and women in her care.
Am I suitable for Botox® injections with Dr Anita Dhunna?
Before any non-surgical treatment can be carried out with Dr Anita Dhunna, it is important to undergo a full consultation with her, at one of her clinics based in London, Hertfordshire and Essex. At this initial, no obligation consultation, you can discuss what really bothers you about your facial appearance, the treatment itself and the results you might expect to achieve. Dr Anita Dhunna will also check your medical history, to make sure there are no contraindications (such as pregnancy or breast feeding) which might prevent your Botox® treatment from going ahead at that time. Once you are both satisfied that Botox® will be a safe and effective solution for you, you can go ahead and book your appointment for the treatment.
Does Botox® hurt?
Although there might be some slight sensations at the injection sites during your Botox® treatment, it is certainly not painful (the needles used are extremely fine and the injections very superficial) and takes only a few minutes to administer. However, if you are nervous or anxious about needles, Dr Anita Dhunna can offer some numbing cream, to ease your worry. Usually however, this really isn’t necessary.
How often will I need Botox® injections with Dr Anita Dhunna?
As Botox® injections are temporary measures for wrinkle smoothing, you will need to maintain your treatment sessions, usually every 6 months. Each time you are treated with Botox®, you’ll be able to see results after around 48 to 72 hours. Full results can take up to two weeks, depending on the toxin used and your individual response to the treatment. If a ‘top up’ treatment is required after such time, you will be able to return to the clinic for any additional injections which may be required.
Can you become immune to Botox® injections?
As time goes on, you might find that you require Botox® injections at more regular intervals (perhaps once a quarter), as the natural ageing process continues, even though you are having this treatment. Some patients can become less responsive to Botox® treatments as time goes on, but this is rare and in most cases, it’s down to having too many treatments in a short period. Dr Anita Dhunna will be able to tailor your specific dosage as the years go by, so that you benefit from every treatment that you have with her. She will not recommend you have Botox® more than 3 times per year.
If you are seeing the effects of time on your face when you look in the mirror and want to give yourself a smoother facial appearance and more confidence, Botox® is a quick and simple procedure that can take years away in a few minutes. With Dr Anita Dhunna’s expertise and your commitment to care for your skin and general health, you can help to stave off the ageing process for as long as possible.
