Cheek Enhancement
As we age, fat depletes from the mid face leading to a sagging of the skin which can create nose to mouth lines and jowls. Treating this area with dermal fillers will help lift, restore and beautify your face back to a youthful appearance. Younger patients however may prefer to have sharper, defined cheekbones which highlight the face.
How does it work?
Dr Anita Dhunna uses hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers to lift, enhance and beautify the cheek area. Dr Dhunna prefers to use FDA approved dermal fillers such as Juvederm Voluma for this treatment. Due to many reasons i.e. the ageing process, smoking and even losing large amounts of weight at one time, the loss of fat from the mid face region causes the skin to drop resulting in a tired, aged and drooping appearance of the skin. Injecting dermal filler into the cheeks restores the volume loss, thereby giving you a refreshed, happy and well rested appearance at the same time as reversing the years on the face.
Younger patients may choose to have a cheek enhancement to amplify their beauty by giving a stronger, sharper definition to a flatter cheek.
Not only does the patented Vycross technology of the Juvederm range allow for a natural looking appearance after injecting, but Juvederm Voluma and Juvederm Volux can also last up to 2 years.
Am I suitable for cheek enhancement?
The treatment is contraindicated in pregnant or breast feeding women. Women and men of all ages can have cheek enhancement treatment subject to your medical history and desired outcomes which would be discussed in depth at your face to face consultation with Dr Anita Dhunna.

What happens during the treatment?
After your consultation, a bespoke treatment plan is created for you. Dr Dhunna would sterilise the areas to be treated. A needle or a cannula (a small flexible blunted ended tube) would be used to introduce the dermal filler into the cheek area..
Does it hurt?
The Juvederm range of dermal fillers have lidocaine built into them which is a local anaesthetic. This starts to work immediately upon injecting. Also when using a cannula, it tends to be less painful. For those who are very sensitive, topical anaesthetic cream can be applied before the treatment.
When will I see the results?
The results are seen immediately after the treatment. You may start to notice the results looking even better in a couple of weeks-the skin starts to look more hydrated and glowing with a more silkier finish to the face due to the moisturising effects of the hyaluronic acid.
It is safe and what’s the downtime?
As with all medical procedures, there can be complications which would be discussed in person at your consultation. However, when being treated by an experienced Doctor/Dentist, you are less likely to experience these.
You may experience some slight swelling or bruising that can last a few days. You can limit the bruising by taking Arnica before the treatment and applying Arnica gel after the treatment.
Avoiding alcohol 48 hours before the treatment will also reduce the risk of bruising.
How long do the results last?
Juvderm Voluma and Juverderm Volux can last up to 2 years.
