After the age of 30, you might notice finer lines appearing on your skin of the face, neck and décolletage leading to a crepier appearance. This is because the skin is losing elastin and collagen. Dr Anita Dhunna can help reverse this appearance by injecting Profhilo, a hyaluronic acid skin bio-remodelling treatment.
How does it work?
Profhilo is a revolutionary skin treatment made up of uncross linked low and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid. When it is injected very specifically into the skin, it stimulates elastin and collagen production in the skin. The stimulation of these substances results in a smoother, tighter and more youthful appearance of the skin. By slowly releasing the hyaluronic acid into the tissues, it significantly improves the skin laxity, tone and texture. Profhilo can be used to treat the face, hands, neck, décolletage, arms and legs.
Am I suitable for Profhilo treatment?
The treatment is contraindicated in pregnant or breast feeding women. Women and men of all ages 18+ can have Profhilo treatment subject to your medical history and desired outcomes which would be discussed in depth at your face to face consultation with Dr Anita Dhunna.
What happens during the treatment?
After you have seen Dr Anita Dhunna for a face to face consultation, a bespoke treatment plan will be made for you.
The area to be treated will be sterilised and cleaned. Dr Anita Dhunna will inject Profhilo into specific points of the skin being treated. In the face this would be 5 specific points on each side of the face. You would then return for a second treatment in 4 weeks time. After this, tops can be done of one treatment every 6 months.
The procedure takes under 10 minutes and you are able to get back to your day to day activities.
Does it hurt?
The injection process doesn’t take long at all and the points are very superficial. Majority of patients are very happy with the process and require no anaesthetic. Topical anaesthetic cream can be used before treatment if someone is very sensitive/anxious.
When will I see the results?
The full results are seen 4 weeks after your second course.
Is it safe and what’s the downtime?
As with all medical procedures, there can be complications which would be discussed in person at your consultation. However, when being treated by an experienced Doctor/Dentist, you are less likely to experience these.
At first you will see a slight appearance of a swelling like a small bee sting where the injection points have been made. Majority of patients have these disappear within the hour.
You may experience some slight swelling or bruising that can last a couple of days. You can limit the bruising by taking Arnica tablets before the treatment and applying Arnica gel after the treatment.
Avoiding alcohol 48 hours before the treatment will also reduce the risk of bruising.
How long do the results last?
The results can last 6 months.

Harley Street, Central London Nearest tube stations are Bond Street (on the Central and Jubilee Lines) and Oxford Circus (which is served by the Victoria, Bakerloo and Central Lines). These are all approximately a 10 minute walk away.
