The non-surgical facelift everyone is talking about – Dr Anita Dhunna

As our faces change over time, we can start to experience many facets of the ageing process, from lines and wrinkles to sagging, drooping skin as well as hollow areas such as the temples and lower cheeks. If you are experiencing moderate facial ageing but don’t wish to undergo invasive facial surgery, Dr Anita Dhunna, one of the UK’s most revered and expert medical facial practitioners offers the non-surgical facelift, a 360 degree facial ageing procedure using dermal fillers and wrinkle-smoothing injections to lift, sculpt, re-shape, volumise and tone those vital areas of the face which can, unfortunately succumb to the ageing process. There is no general anaesthetic, no cutting of the skin, no sutures and no lengthy or painful downtime with this treatment. What’s not to love!!???

Injectable products have been used for decades to improve our looks, but it’s only recently (in the last 15 years) that new and innovative techniques have been developed to offer such radical results without a scalpel or surgeon’s blade. Medical aesthetic practitioners all around the world have locked on to the fact that injectable Botox® and dermal fillers like Juvederm  can achieve astounding results without the risks, side-effects or considerable rest time that a surgical procedure demands, as long as they have the insider knowledge and extensive training to perform such miracles. Using dermal fillers such as Juvederm and wrinkle relaxing Botox® to achieve a full facial lifting effect takes an artistic and critical eye and not just medical qualifications. These unique and vital qualities are what Dr Anita Dhunna has spent many years developing and perfecting, for optimum results.

As Dr Anita Dhunna is a fully-qualified dentist as well as her extensive training in aesthetic medicine, she understands the anatomy of the face and uses her attention to detail to ensure balance and harmony of the facial form. No one facial feature should be over ‘worked’ or the natural equilibrium of the face can be compromised. Instead, Dr Anita Dhunna makes it her mission to offer subtle changes for ultimate beauty and this may mean using various products from various FDA approved dermal fillers such as the Vycross range of  Juvederm incorporating Voluma, Volux, Volift and Volbella and other ranges like Restylane and Beletoro in several areas of the face, such as the cheeks, temples, tear troughs, forehead, lips, jawline and chin, but in specific quantities and using the most state-of-the-art injection or cannula techniques.

Ensuring your comfort during a non-surgical facelift is of utmost importance to Dr Anita Dhunna and with most FDA-approved dermal fillers (which she insists on using), which have anaesthetic added into the dermal filler, so that you remain comfortable throughout the procedure. For areas where a needle or cannula area inserted a topical anaesthetic may also be applied, around 30 minutes before the treatment commences and in cases of extreme sensitivity or for an anxious patient, an injectable ‘block’ might be used. However, in most instances, this is not necessary. As Botox® injections require the tiniest of needles and very superficial injection, a pre-treatment pain relief is rarely required for this treatment.

When can I have a non-surgical facelifting treatment with Dr Anita Dhunna?

Before a treatment can commence with Dr Anita Dhunna, we will ask that you attend a no obligation pre-treatment consultation and facial analysis.

It is at this meeting that the doctor will get to know you as a patient, what bothers you about your facial appearance and most importantly, will check your medical history and current health status, so as to ensure that any treatment she offers you is appropriate, safe and effective. Knowledge is power and it is at this initial consultation that you’ll be able to ask Dr Anita Dhunna as many questions as possible, about the treatment itself and the results you are likely to achieve. Once you and the doctor are both happy to proceed, you will be able to book your appointment to go ahead.

A full ‘liquid’ facelift is usually performed in around an hour, to an hour and a half, depending on whether numbing cream is required and how many areas are to be treated. Botox® and dermal fillers can be used in the same sitting and this is usually advised so that the results can be seen immediately for dermal fillers and for Botox® by 14 days. Staggering the treatment may be suggested if Dr Anita Dhunna wishes to adopt a ‘conservative’ approach for patients who may only have some very initial signs of ageing. For example, she may wish to administer Botox® in one sitting and then use dermal fillers very sparingly in a second treatment. Usually however, for full facelift patients, both substances can be used on the same day.

You may experience a little swelling, bruising and tenderness after the non-surgical facelift procedure and this usually occurs in some form with the use of dermal fillers. However, this is very normal and symptoms can be eased with the use of an ice pack, taking arnica a few days before and after your treatment and avoiding heat such as steam rooms, saunas and hot baths, as well as limiting your alcohol intake the nights before and after your treatment.

The results from a full non-surgical facelift can last well beyond 2 years! You will usually find that you’ll require Botox® injections every 3 to 6 months, but dermal fillers can offer more longevity, depending on your individual response to the product and how your body metabolises it. If you stay out of the sun, avoid smoking, eat well and maintain a good skincare regime, your results are bound to last longer than perhaps someone who isn’t taking care of their health, skin or wellbeing. Heavy gym goers may also find that they metabolise Botox® and dermal fillers more readily, so more regular visits to the clinic may be necessary.

The time is here where we can finally achieve a naturally beautiful and radiant look without going under the knife and with the skills and expertise of Dr Anita Dhunna, you can look younger and full of vitality, without having to resort to extreme measures!
