The facelift without surgery- dermal threads with Dr Anita Dhunna

As we age, our facial appearance can alter, due to loss of elasticity within the skin.in many ways. Drooping and sagging areas such as the cheeks, neck, jawline and under eye bags can leave us looking tired and older than our years. In many cases, invasive face lifting surgery might not yet be suitable or indeed, needed. So what’s the answer?

From her many clinics, located throughout Essex, Hertfordshire and London, Dr Anita Dhunna offers polydioxanone (PDO) thread lifting; a non-surgical face lifting treatment, that can tighten and lift the skin but offers a natural look, with results that can be seen both immediately and continuing improvements over time. PDO thread lifting works to mechanically tighten the skin from within, as well as improve the production of collagen within the dermis, for healthier, more toned and plump looking skin.

What happens during a PDO thread lift with Dr Anita Dhunna?`

During the procedure, a small needle, carrying the PDO thread, is inserted in to the skin at a very specific depth (don’t worry, we use a local anaesthetic so you won’t feel uncomfortable). The needle is then removed, leaving the thread in place. After some weeks to months, the small thread dissolves in to carbon dioxide and water. As the initial procedure causes the skin to heal itself by producing more collagen, the skin is tighter, more toned and lifted. To improve the texture of the skin as well as fine lines and wrinkles, small spiral threads can be used in specific areas such as under the eyes, the neck, around the mouth and also for a gentle eyebrow lift. For areas that have lost a significant amount of elasticity, such as the entire cheek area, jowls or the jawline, Dr Anita Dhunna will use barbed 4-dimensional PDO threads. These barbed threads allow more hooking and lifting of the skin, thereby giving more of a significant facelift, without invasive surgery. Dr Anita Dhunna is one of the very first to be trained in barbed 4-dimensional PDO threads. The result is an incredible lift with an immediate tightening of the skin.

Is there any downtime with PDO thread lifting?

You may experience some light bruising and swelling after your treatment, which can last a few days. When treating larger areas such as the cheeks or the jowls, there may be some initial ‘rouching’ of the skin. This is perfectly normal and should settle down after around a week. Taking Arnica papules before the treatment and applying Arnica gel afterwards, as well as avoiding alcohol around 48 hours prior to the treatment, can help to reduce the risk of bruising. You may return to your normal daily activities after your treatment, but there may be a few aftercare instructions to adhere to, in order to assist with the healing process and avoid any complications, following the procedure. Some people like to take a couple of days off work, following this treatment, to rest and recover properly.

How long will the results of my PDO thread lift last?

The results of a PDO thread-lift treatment can last anything up to 2 years, which makes this procedure extremely cost effective. As the threads dissolve completely over time, PDO thread lifting is thought of as a more natural solution to facial ageing. Candidates that benefit most from PDO thread treatments are usually aged between 35 and 55, but some younger patients can also benefit from a light PDO thread treatment, to lift or correct certain areas of skin laxity.

Am I suitable for a PDO thread lift with Dr Anita Dhunna?

As with all her non-surgical treatments, prior to advising on a PDO thread lift, Dr Anita Dhunna will ask that you attend a no obligation consultation and facial analysis. This initial meeting will allow you to ask all those burning questions that you have, to discuss the kind of results you are looking for and for Dr Anita Dhunna to examine your face and check your medical history. Once you are both satisfied that PDO threads will be safe and effective for you to undergo, you can book your appointment for treatment.
Invasive surgery is now not the only option to choose for a younger, more lifted facial appearance. With PDO threads you can achieve your anti-ageing goals, with no general anaesthetic, no hospital stay, no scars and no lengthy downtime!
