What is Profhilo®?
Profhilo® is an innovative, bio-regenerating, injectable skin treatment which stimulates the body’s own hyaluronic acid production. HA is present within the body, but as we age, it depletes, causing much of the skin ageing that we see as we get older. Profhilo® helps to counteract skin sagging, lines and wrinkles and dehydration. Before any treatment can take place with Dr Anita Dhunna at her clinics in Essex, London’s Harley Street and Hertfordshire, we will ask that you attend a pre-treatment consultation, to assess your skin quality and discuss your desires for results. It’s important that the doctor understands what is bothering you about your skin, before treating you. She will also check your medical history to ensure that Profhilo® will be a safe and effective option for you. How many treatments of Profhilo® will I need?
Initially, Profhilo® is delivered in 2 treatments, within one month to 6 weeks of each other, as a booster dose is required to start the skin working to replenish itself. You should then see significant results at around a month after the second treatment, though many patients see results much faster. Some patients who are experiencing significant skin ageing, may require a third treatment, but this will be discussed with you, in your pre-treatment consultation with the doctor.
Is there any downtime?
As with any injectable treatment, there are some minor risks and side-effects which can be possible. These can include bruising, swelling, allergic reaction, infection and nerve damage. However, Profhilo® involves fewer injection points than many skin rejuvenation treatments available and is a more biocompatible product. Therefore, the downtime is minimised with this treatment. There are some aftercare protocols that you should follow, after your Profhilo® treatment. These include:-
- Avoiding strenuous exercise for 24 hours
- Avoiding hot baths, steam rooms or saunas for a few days
- Avoiding UV light exposure if bruising or prolonged swelling occurs
When will I see results?
You should see a positive change in the skin quality and laxity on your neck and decolletage, at around 4 weeks after your initial treatment. However, the optimal results will be seen around a month after the second treatment session. Over time, you should see a vast improvement in your skin tone and texture. On average, these results can last around 6 months, before you will need another treatment, to maintain beautifully hydrated, lifted and resilient skin.
It’s important to maintain a good skincare regime, even on your neck and decolletage, to maintain a healthy complexion and the results of your Profhilo® treatment. Excessive sun exposure, smoking and not drinking enough water, can really affect the skin in these areas.
