It’s hard to believe that 2021 is nearly over and the new year will soon be upon us. For many of us, the year has been an unsteady one, with COVID still prevalent and the need to be wary when going about our daily lives, can take its toll. The winter time can also bring less light, more turbulent weather and as it gets darker, earlier and earlier, we may generally feel a little less energetic or enthusiastic to get outside for regular exercise. Our diets can change during the holiday season, with more alcohol consumed around Christmas time as well as richer foods, this can mean we are less active and would rather curl up on the sofa in our centrally heated living rooms. All of these factors can have an effect on your skin and if you are feeling that you would like to enter 2022 with a spring in your step and a new found confidence in the way that you look, Dr Anita Dhunna can help.
From her clinics in London, Essex and Hertfordshire, Dr Anita Dhunna specialises in non-surgical treatments for facial rejuvenation, so you can look naturally more youthful and vibrant with tried and tested non-invasive solutions. She has trained for many years with some of the world’s leading master injectors and believes in using only the most superlative, FDA approved, pure products in such a way that her patients will never look or feel as if they have been ‘over done’. Less is more when it comes to injectables and it’s all about how and where a product is used, rather than putting lots of a particular product in, that determines a natural look.
So which treatments could help you to look and feel your very best in 2022?
Dr Anita Dhunna utilises a myriad of clinically-proven, safe and effective in-clinic treatments to help reduce the signs of ageing and help the skin to produce more collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Depending on your unique and individual facial concerns and skin quality, Dr Anita Dhunna will create a bespoke treatment plan, following a no obligation consultation with you, in one of her many clinics.
Botox® – arguably the most popular injectable treatment to reduce facial lines and wrinkles. Botulinum Toxin Type A is used to relax the muscles which contract when you create facial expressions. Don’t worry, you can still make all the expressions you need, you will simply find that those annoying forehead lines, crow’s feet, glabellar lines (the 2 lines between your eyebrows that show when you frown) and bunny lines (the lines down the sides of your nose) can be smoothed out temporarily. This is a quick treatment to administer but should only be practiced by a medical professional such as Dr Anita Dhunna. It’s important to understand that Botox® injections will only target dynamic expression lines and not deeper static lines of the face. Results can last anything from 4 to 6 months at a time. Dr Anita Dhunna uses advanced Botox® techniques for even more efficacy of treatment, so don’t forget to ask her about this at your initial consultation.
Dermal fillers – THE most versatile of all the injectable treatments. Dermal fillers come in a range of viscosities (thicknesses) and can target facial hollows, deep lines and wrinkles, facial folds and sagging skin. They can re-shape the lips and the nose and sculpt facial contours such as the cheeks and the jawline. Dermal fillers are superb at replacing the lost hyaluronic acid (HA) in the skin, which depletes as we age. A topical anaesthetic is usually required and either a needle or a cannula (a blunt-ended needle) may be used to administer the substance. Many dermal filler treatments mean injecting in to the deeper layers of the skin, so you might experience some swelling and bruising following your treatment. Therefore, it’s important to time these treatments well, around social engagements or special events. This can all be discussed with Dr Anita Dhunna at your initial consultation. The longevity of your results can depend on the treatment you have undergone, your own response to the HA filler, your lifestyle and general health. However, a typical lip filler treatment can last anything up to 12 months.
Dermapen – a more sophisticated, electronic version of the dermal roller, Dermapen works by multiple needles penetrating the skin at 8000rpm. Needling of the skin (medical microneedling) administers a micro trauma of the skin and encourages new cell growth and the production of collagen, elastin and growth factors. It doesn’t drag or tear the skin like a hand held Dermaroller potentially can and it can be used in very specific areas, due to the small tip which penetrates from 0.2 – 2mm deep. The whole face, neck and even the decolletage can be treated with Dermapen. Dermapen can help reduce lines and wrinkles, re-texturize the skin, help with pigmentation and sun damage and can even help reduce enlarged pores. It can regulate oil production and leave you with more resilient, glowing and youthful skin. A course of treatment may be recommended for optimum results.
Profhilo® – Profhilo® is a revolutionary skin remodelling treatment using high-grade hyaluronic acid. It is not like a traditional dermal filler in that it will not plump up or fill the skin, but works with the skin on a molecular and cellular level for advanced healing, repair and rejuvenation. When injected in to specific areas of the face, Profhilo® helps to stimulate elastin and collagen production in the skin tissues. This results in a smoother, tighter and more youthful appearance. By slowly releasing the high-grade HA over time, Profhilo® significantly improves the laxity, tone and texture of the skin. Profhilo® can be used to treat the face, neck, decolletage, neck, arms and legs. A course of 2 to 3 treatments, a month apart, may be required for optimum results. Expect the full results to last around 12 months before a top up treatment is needed. Profhilo® can be used alongside Botox®, dermal fillers and dermal peels for a holistic approach to anti-ageing and facial rejuvenation.
