Creating the natural look with combination treatments

As the ageing process can affect a range of facial concerns, cosmetic treatments need to be tailored to the individual. One patient may notice fine lines and wrinkles appear, another might start to see hollows around the lower face and the temples, another might experience jowls and loose skin. In many cases a combination of these concerns can happen and no one treatment can address all of these signs of ageing. Fortunately, from her clinic at Lily House, The Shrubberies, South Woodford; a location within easy reach of Chingford, Chigwell, Wanstead, Walthamstow and Buckhurst Hill Dr Anita Dhunna offers a plethora of combination treatments which are clinically proven to work perfectly either alone, or in conjunction with one another, for a completely holistic approach to anti-ageing.

As the skin is comprised of many layers, structures and tissues, it’s important to be able to address the issues which affect these components, fully, as the ageing process progresses. You will most likely have heard of injectable treatments such as Botox® (anti-wrinkle injections or wrinkle-smoothing injections), dermal fillers and more recently talked about in the press, injectable skin boosters. Each of these treatments have very different purposes and effects on the various tissues of the face, from facial muscles to the very superficial dermal and epidermal layers. Therefore, it’s important to understand what these substances do, so that you can make an informed decision, with Dr Anita Dhunna, about which treatments would be right for your unique facial concerns.

Botox® (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is one of the most popular and well known injectable treatments on the planet and famous for temporarily smoothing dynamic lines and wrinkles such as crow’s feet, forehead lines and nose lines. Botox® works by blocking the nerve signals responsible for muscle movement of the face (expressions). By injecting the facial muscles with Botox® one can relax these muscles (although you will still be able to form facial expressions, of course) so that the lines caused by facial expressions, can smooth and fade. With regular use, we can also prevent some dynamic lines from ever appearing, as the repetition of muscle movement is reduced, thus stopping these lines from becoming deep and creased. Results tend to last between 4 and 6 months, so we recommend at least a twice yearly visit to our Essex, London or Hertfordshire clinics for your Botox® treatments, for optimum and lasting results.

Dermal fillers are termed as ‘medical devices’ within the industry. These gel-like substances can perform a myriad of services to the facial anatomy, from filling lines and wrinkles, plumping areas of lost volume and sculpting facial features, to performing full face lifts without surgery and hydrating the skin. The key component of dermal fillers (licensed in the UK) is hyaluronic acid. You may well have heard of this substance, as it’s now a very popular buzz word and ingredient in even topical creams, serums and gels. Hyaluronic acid (HA) can hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water, so is a super hydrator for the skin. It sits innately within the skin tissues, so physically augments the skin and facial features. Dermal fillers come in a range of viscosities and molecular thicknesses, so it’s possible to perform a huge variety of treatments, using the correctly chosen dermal filler for a particular concern. For example, a very thick, structurally sound dermal filler can be used in a non-surgical nose job, or to sculpt and define the jawline, whereas a very fluid, soft filler can correct tear trough bags and dark circles. The results are very dependent however, on the skill and experience of the practitioner and dermal fillers, as with all injectable treatments, should only be administered by a fully-qualified medic, with specific training on a particular treatment or procedure. Dr Anita Dhunna has all the qualifications, training and deep experience in order to create lasting, naturally beautiful results, using a safe, regulated and professional approach to cosmetic enhancement.

Skin boosters are injectable substances which are designed to deliver deep skin hydration. They are sometimes referred to as ‘injectable liquid skincare’ as they work more effectively than any topical serum or cream. Skin boosters are relatively new to the aesthetic world but are becoming hugely popular for patients who would like an overall improvement to the quality of their skin and who wish to look as natural as possible. Skin boosters are also made with HA, but aren’t viscous enough to sculpt the facial features like dermal fillers and won’t relax facial muscles like Botox®. However, what they do achieve, is richly hydrated, plump, healthy looking skin. This is why, if you are looking for a holistic approach where several facial concerns need to be addressed, combining skin boosters with dermal fillers and / or Botox® can really improve how you look and feel.

For patients who are looking for a deeper lift of the skin tissues, PDO threads could be the non-surgical answer to a partial or full face lift. These mechanical devices are surgical sutures, which, when inserted using a special needle in to the deeper layers of the facial tissues, can physically ‘lift’ areas such as the forehead, cheeks, jawline and neck. Used in conjunction with injectable treatments, PDO threads can have a profound effect on the facial structure and over time, help the skin rebuild lost collagen and elastin, through a healing response. The threads themselves dissolve over time, leaving tighter, taught and toned skin. Dr Anita Dhunna uses FDA approved PDO threads which are proven for their safety and efficacy, so you can be sure, you are only receiving the highest standards when it comes to your facial treatments.

How do I know which cosmetic treatments will work for me?

As part of our duty of care, to really understand what you are feeling about your facial looks and before any treatment is agreed by Dr Anita Dhunna, she will ask that you attend a pre-treatment consultation, facial analysis and medical check. This meeting will give you the opportunity to discuss at length, what is troubling you about your looks, the results that you would like to achieve, your budget and your preferences. Dr Anita Dhunna will also examine your face, test the resilience of your skin and will check your medical history, to ensure that any one, or combination of treatments that she advises, will be both safe and effective for your needs. Once she is happy to advise you, she will create a tailored treatment plan, specifically designed to address your unique and individual needs. She will discuss how each treatment will work, the timings of these treatments and their efficacy when used in conjunction with one another. She will also advise you of any downtime, aftercare and possible side-effects, so that you can make an informed and educated decision on when to have your treatments.

Creating a natural beauty to the face is something that Dr Anita is passionate about. She believes that subtly when administering injectable treatments is key and will never over-administer a particular treatment or substance. Less is more, when it comes to cosmetic enhancement, for a successful and beautiful outcome. Using combination treatments allows Dr Anita Dhunna to achieve stunning results, without compromising the natural features of your unique facial perfection.
