It’s fairly common knowledge that dermal fillers are a great way to re-shape, lift and mould the facial features without major surgery, but did you know that certain types of dermal fillers can actually help the resilience and hydration of the skin? With the biting winds and skin-ravaging central heating during these winter months, our skin can become parched, crêpey and wrinkles can appear as if out of nowhere! From her clinics in South Woodford, Harley Street and Hatfield, Dr Anita Dhunna uses FDA approved dermal fillers in many ways and finds that in winter time, her patients simply want a treatment with fillers, to help safeguard their skin, against the perils of the colder months.
How can dermal fillers help my skin in winter?
A treatment with dermal fillers doesn’t have to mean dramatic changes to facial contours or complete re-shaping of certain features. Dr Anita Dhunna can use very light, fluid dermal fillers which contain hyaluronic acid (HA), a super-hydrator for the skin, to replenish the lost HA in our own skin and to encourage collagen production for more resilience. This happens in 2 ways, firstly, the HA will take on up to 1000 times its own weight in water, holding it within the skin tissues and then gradually releasing it back, to replenish and hydrate the fabric of the skin’s composition. The second action to increase collagen production is in fact, the damage to the skin, when a cannula or needle is used. This ‘trauma’ encourages the skin to heal itself, by producing collagen and elastin. Over time, you’ll see your skin become less dehydrated, fine lines and wrinkles reduce and the skin will appear more plump and resilient. Perfect at a time of year when all odds are against us.
Using heavier dermal fillers with more viscosity comes in to play, when you desire a more sculpting effect, such as a cheek lift, jawline and chin recontouring, nose reshaping and lip augmentation. The win-win happens when not only are your facial features remodelled in a naturally youth-giving way, but the HA and needle trauma to the skin in these procedures helps to make it more resilient from within. No face cream, serum or moisturiser is ever capable of such change within the skin tissues. You are literally helping your skin from the deeper layers, outwards.
Winter can be a devastating time for our skin and as we still have a while of cold, wintery weather, darker mornings and afternoons and drying heating methods, a treatment using dermal fillers could just be the solution, to see your skin through some of the toughest months and to revitalise it for when the Spring arrives.
Results can last months at a time, so why not arrange a no obligation consultation with Dr Anita Dhunna, to see how dermal fillers could safeguard your skin this winter and keep you glowing, in the best possible way!
