Lip Fillers

Lips are a focal point when we look at faces. Younger patients may request lip fillers for a fuller pout and older patients may find that they’ve lost volume in their lips and developed lip wrinkles/smokers lines. It is important that the natural youthfulness of the lip is restored to bring back your natural beauty.

How do Lip Fillers work?

Dr Anita Dhunna uses dermal fillers to enhance, restore and beatify the lip. The dermal fillers used are temporary, reversible and made up of hyaluronic acid. Dr Dhunna prefers to use FDA approved dermal fillers such as those from the Juvederm range for this Created from the latest Vycross technology they are designed to minimise swelling.

Options include Juvederm Volbella with built in anaesthetic. The gel is a very smooth product, which produces a soft, natural looking finish to create a beautiful lip. If more pout is required then Juvederm Volift can also be used and for more pout. Juvederm Ultra Smile is a perfect option for those that want a defined lip with gentle body.

Am i suitable for fillers?

The treatment is contraindicated in pregnant or breast feeding women. Women and men of all ages can have lip enhancement treatment subject to your medical history, which would be discussed in depth at your face to face consultation with Dr Anita Dhunna at her Essex clinic

What happens during the lip filler treatment?

After your consultation, Dr Anita Dhunna will create a bespoke treatment plan for you. The lips and surrounding skin are cleaned.
The lips would then be injected with the dermal filler via a needle or a cannula-which is a blunt, flexible tube. The technique used would be bespoke to the patient depending upon what it is that is trying to be achieved.

After the procedure, some anti-bruising cream is applied to the lips. Depending on swelling, an ice pack may be used.

Do lip fillers hurt?

Although most modern lip fillers have local anaesthetic built into them, depending on your pain threshold, a topical anaesthetic cream can also be applied beforehand. For those who are very needle phobic, Dr Dhunna is trained in administering dental infiltrations of local anaesthetic in the mouth.

When will i see the results?

lip filler results can be seen immediately, however some patients can swell in the lip region which will mask the true result.

Are Lip Filler safe?

As with all medical procedures, there can be complications which would be discussed in person at your consultation. However, when being treated by an experienced Doctor/Dentist, you are less likely to experience these.

Some patients can experience swelling in the lip region as it is a very vascular part of the body. Using an ice pack after your treatment can help reduce this. Also depending on the patient’s healing, there can be a risk of bruising. To minimise this, you can take Arnica tablets beforehand and avoid alcohol and high dose vitamins including fish oils for 48 hours before your treatment.

How long do the results last?

Juvederm Volbella and Juvederm Volift can last up to 1 year and Juvederm Smile can last up to 6-8 months.
