Botox – still the ‘go-to’ treatment to have with Dr Anita Dhunna

botox in essexFrom her clinic at Lily House, The Shrubberies, South Woodford which is in easy reach of Chingford, Chigwell, Wanstead, Walthamstow and Buckhurst Hill, Dr Anita Dhunna regularly treats a huge number of her patients with one of the most popular and sought after injectable cosmetic treatments in the world. This treatment helps to smooth and relax dynamic lines and wrinkles, is fast to administer (by a fully-qualified medical professional of course) and the results can last for up to 6 months at a time. This treatment is none other than Botox®, otherwise known as wrinkle-smoothing injections.

If you have a keen interest in cosmetic treatments, you would have no doubt heard of Botox®. These simple injections which use fine needles (ensuring a virtually pain-free treatment) help to temporarily eradicate those annoying and ageing facial lines, such as forehead lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines, lip lines, neck lines and even help to lift the brows, for a more wide-awake and fresh facial appearance. Botox® isn’t a new medication; it’s been around since the 50s and has been used to treat muscle spasms, bladder problems, crossed eyes and migraines. It’s one of the most potent substances on earth and its power for rejuvenating the face, is harnessed when injected in minute quantities, into specific facial muscles. As Botox® (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is a neurotoxin, it blocks the nerve signals to the facial muscles which cause dynamic lines and wrinkles. You can still create expressions, but as the muscles are less active, the lines are smoothed for months at a time. It’s arguably the most popular and well known injectable treatment across the globe. Why? Simply put, it works!

When some treatments are dependent on the patient and their individual responses, Botox® has it’s benefits for pretty much everyone from the age of 20 to 70! What’s great about Botox® is that it can be used in conjunction with other injectable treatments such as dermal fillers and skin boosters, but is worth its weight in gold even used as a stand-alone treatment. Many men and women will attend our London, Hertfordshire and Essex clinics, religiously, every 4 to 6 months to undergo Botox® as the results speak for themselves – smoother skin and a more youthful visage, without downtime, recovery time or major side-effects. All that is asked is that our patients follow some very simple aftercare instructions and wait between 2 days and 2 weeks, to see the optimum results.

As the results of Botox® wear off gradually, you won’t see a sudden change in your wrinkles, but more a slow return back to your previous natural state. If you attend clinic regularly however (but no more than 3 times in 12 months), you will be able to keep those pesky wrinkles at bay and even avoid the appearance of new wrinkles, as Botox® relaxes those facial muscles which create and deepen expression lines and dynamic wrinkles, caused by repetitive facial movement in those tell-tale facial areas.

How do I know if I am suitable for Botox® With Dr Anita Dhunna?

Botox® is a very safe product, when in the hands of a fully-qualified medical professional, such as Dr Anita Dhunna. It can offer huge benefits for those who are looking to improve their facial appearance and reverse time. However, before we can agree on a Botox® treatment for you, we will ask that you attend a no obligation consultation with the doctor, so she can discuss your facial concerns, check your medical history and examine your unique facial anatomy; so that a safe and suitable treatment programme can be arranged. Once Dr Anita Dhunna is happy to proceed with a Botox® treatment, you can book your appointment.

Having Botox® is a medical procedure and it’s really important to be well informed about the possible side-effects that you may experience after your treatment, no matter how mild or fleeting. These can include mild headaches, flu-like symptoms and in some extremely rare cases, a drooping of one or both eyelids. Asymmetry can also be experienced, but these are very rare and hardly known of if the treatment is practiced by a medical professional. Other things to consider would be your activities for 24 to 48 hours after your treatment. Excessive heat, exercise and alcohol consumption should be avoided, though rest and recouperation at home is not necessary. Some slight bruising may happen at the injection sites but again, this is very rare and the bruises are so tiny that they can be covered with some mineral makeup for a day or so, until they fade.

Although Botox® is a quick treatment to administer, it must be done by a medic, to ensure safety and efficacy of treatment. As a medical practitioner with many years’ experience in administering Botox®, Dr Anita Dhunna’s diary is always choc-full of regular Botox® patients, wanting their 6 monthly dose of this youth elixir. Therefore, it’s important to book early, if you have a holiday or special event coming up that you want to look your very best for. As with most injectable cosmetic treatments, timing is really important.

Botox® is still one of the most highly regarded anti-ageing treatment around and with proven results that make it a treatment that many of our patients just would not live without. Why not make it part of your beauty routine? and enjoy smoother, more youthful looking skin, for months at a time!
