Botox and filler trends for 2022

Botox trends for 2022We all want to look and feel our very best and at Dr Anita Dhunna’s clinics in London, Essex and Hertfordshire, we make it our mission to keep abreast of the changing trends and desires of our patients, so we can offer the most up-to-date treatments and techniques for amazing age-busting results. Dr Anita Dhunna is a specialist in Botox® and dermal filler injections and over the years has noticed that there are differences in what her patients were looking for say, 5 years ago, to what they seek now.

Injectable facial treatments will always be popular because essentially, they work. Botox® offers patients a smoother complexion with less dynamic wrinkles and expression lines for up to 6 months at a time. However, many patients who now seek Botox® injections were nervous in the past, as some celebrities and TV personalities would simply have too much and would look strange, permanently surprised and shiny. The same goes for dermal fillers, famed for plumping, filling, sculpting and re-shaping the facial contours. Having poorly administered product in high quantities however, can make someone look older than their years and very odd; as opposed to administering smaller quantities in the right way so that patients look more youthful and fresh, which is the way Dr Anita Dhunna uses dermal fillers. Nowadays, people want a more natural look. The ‘fashion’ of looking fake is dwindling. One only has to see how film stars and Hollywood movers and shakers have actually had their dermal fillers dissolved (using a product called Hyalase) to undergo a more subtle transformation, revealing their natural beauty and eradicating the trout pout or surprised look. More awareness of dangerous practices and the perils of having too much product injected has also led to more patients making sensible choices when it comes to Botox® and dermal fillers. The rise of awareness that only medical practitioners should be administering any treatment that involves a needle is not fully widespread, but we are going in the right direction.

Facial aesthetics has never been a one-size-fits all practice and nowadays, patients are far more likely to consider a range of treatments for a holistic approach to looking and feeling better. For example, Botox® is fantastic at smoothing those annoying expression lines, such as crow’s feet, but for deeper folds and crevices of the skin, it simply won’t cut it. If only one treatment is used over and over, an imbalance of the facial features can occur. This is why Dr Anita has always looked at the face in its entirety and sometimes advises on two or more treatments, to maintain balance and address various concerns in the right way. If you have Botox® but don’t maintain good skin quality with something like a skin booster or peel, you’ll not be as satisfied perhaps as if you had utilised these treatments for an overall skin improvement as well as facial muscle relaxation. At Dr Anita Dhunna’s clinics, we will always ask that you attend a pre-treatment consultation, so that you can explain in detail, the concerns you have and the way you really feel about your looks. This will give the doctor insight and a deeper understanding of what you need to feel better. What someone else sees really doesn’t matter, it’s what you want to address that is most important.

Having this initial meeting is the first step in to developing a relationship with your practitioner. There should always be a level of trust and empathy, kindness and understanding. After all, this is your face and the results are most-likely going to last for many months. Dr Anita Dhunna loves to get to know her patients, so that she can really deliver the results they are going to love. It’s not just about physical improvements, but emotional wellbeing and to get it right takes conversation and seeing things from the patient’s perspective, as much as is takes a medical degree and years of experience in administering these treatments. Patients also enjoy being able to chat with Dr Anita Dhunna about the ageing process and what she might feel will be the next step of their cosmetic journey with her. As she gets to know you and understands how your unique face responds to treatment and indeed, the ageing process, she can work with you, in order to make sure that every visit means you feeling better, both inside and out. We are not on a conveyor belt when it comes to facial aesthetics.

Times are changing and the aesthetic practitioners who get to know and love their patients will continue to improve, to blaze trails, and to pioneer new and innovative treatments and techniques, because they have taken the time and made it their mission to deeply understand their patients’ needs and desires. Something that Dr Anita Dhunna is proud of and will continue to do, for many years to come.
